Iraqi Ingrates

I love Rep. Dana Rohrabacher. I love him for things like this...

The House Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight met today to discuss issues of sovereignty and stability in Iraq ranging from the country's longstanding financial obligation to neighboring Kuwait to its even longer-standing issues with the Kurdish people. But Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) seemed mostly interested in berating the Iraqis for their lack of gratitude

At the hearing, Saleh al Mutlaq and former Iraqi interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, both members of Iraq's Council of Representatives, spoke about Iraq's future and the importance of the country's upcoming elections.

Mutlaq called for a "moral and responsible" withdrawal of U.S. troops saying that the invasion of his country was "irresponsible."

Worried that violence and intimidation from Iraq's ruling party could distort the outcome of the January election, Allawi stressed the need for election monitoring from institutions such as the United Nations, the Arab League and other NGOs along with the United States.

Then Rohrabacher opened his mouth.

"I have never heard one word of gratitude from the Iraqi people about the 4,300 Americans who lost their lives," he exclaimed.

"We went to Iraq to try and free your people and now we're being blamed for sectarian violence," he said. "Don't blame us because that type of bloodlust exists in your society."

A defiant Mutlaq responded, "You were the ones who pushed your troops. We did not invite you."

It was at this point that an exasperated Rohrabacher threw up his hands and stormed out of the room.

It was only in the aftermath of Rohrabacher's tantrum that Rep. Bill Delahunt (D-MA) quietly stated that weapons of mass destruction, and not Iraqi freedom, were the reason the U.S. invaded Iraq.

Yes. The bloodlust that exists in your society. I love this because it so honestly and perfectly encapsulates how Americans really feel about the Iraqi people. We loathe them. A point that sorely needs to be made and one that must be shouted at every single mention of our charitable intentions or desires to "free" such a benighted people. No, we hate the Iraqis, be they Sunni, Shia, or Misc., and there can be no better example of that than Rep. Dana's "exasperated" demands that they thank us for fucking them so hard.

Please remember back when something like upwards of 80-90% of Americans actually supported and/or cared about this war, it was when we most believed that they were a) responsible for 9/11 and b) had nukes and were actively planning to use them against us. We loved the war when it was clearly about kicking the shit out of a country we hate. Killing them, embarrassing them, destroying their cities, getting our dicks wet, making them pay for fucking with the USA, there is nothing that excites human beings more, and at least that hate was open and honest. However, by forcing us to justify our bloodlust through gay-ass humanitarian concerns for their freedom and well being has only made us hate them more, i.e. Rep. Rohrabacher's frustration at their failure to genuflect before the size and might of our cocks. I mean 4,000 of our guys died in a war that's killed at least a few hundred thousand of yours...can we at least get a fruit basket? I'm reminded of Charlie Murphy on the Rick James Chappelle's Show, "Man, we just gave him some help...."

Let's give the last word to this unrepentant chap:

The opportunity came, and I took it.

I took it out of loyalty to every drop of innocent blood that has been shed through the occupation or because of it, every scream of a bereaved mother, every moan of an orphan, the sorrow of a rape victim, the teardrop of an orphan.

I say to those who reproach me: do you know how many broken homes that shoe which I threw had entered? How many times it had trodden over the blood of innocent victims? Maybe that shoe was the appropriate response when all values were violated.

How rude.
